Messaging
Sociera’s messaging feature enables seamless communication with your professional network, fostering collaboration and relationship-building. Whether you're networking, discussing opportunities, or collaborating on projects, messaging allows for efficient and real-time conversations within the platform.
1. Accessing the Messaging Feature
Launch the Sociera App: Tap the Sociera icon on your device to open the app.
Navigate to Messages: Tap the "Messages" tab in the navigation menu to view your conversations.
View Recent Chats: Your most recent conversations appear at the top, with unread messages highlighted.
2. Starting a New Conversation
Search for a Connection:
Tap the Search icon in the "Messages" tab.
Enter the name of the professional you wish to contact.
Select their profile from the search results.
Initiate the Message:
On their profile, tap the "Message" button to open a new chat window.
Type your message in the text box and tap "Send" to deliver it.
Note: You can only message users who have accepted your connection request or have enabled messages from everyone in their privacy settings.
3. Managing Conversations
Viewing Messages:
Unread messages appear at the top of your "Messages" tab.
Tap on a conversation to open and respond.
Organizing Chats:
Swipe left on a conversation to reveal options such as "Archive" or "Delete."
Use the Search function within the "Messages" tab to quickly find specific conversations.
Pinning Important Chats:
Long press on a conversation and select "Pin" to keep it at the top of your messages list.
To unpin, long press the conversation and select "Unpin."
4. Enhancing Your Messages
Sending Attachments:
Tap the Attachment icon to share documents, images, videos, or location details relevant to your discussion.
Reacting to Messages:
Press and hold a message to add emoji reactions, making conversations more interactive.
Replying to Specific Messages:
Swipe right on a message to quote and reply directly, ensuring clear communication in fast-moving discussions.
Deleting Messages:
Long press on a message and select "Delete for me" or "Delete for everyone" if allowed.
5. Privacy and Security
Managing Message Requests:
Messages from users who are not in your network appear under "Message Requests."
You can Accept, Decline, or Block message requests.
Blocking Users:
If you receive unwanted messages, navigate to the user's profile.
Tap the Menu icon (⋮) and select "Block."
Blocked users will not be able to send you messages or view your profile.
Tips for Effective Messaging
Keep messages professional to maintain a positive network presence.
Be clear and concise to ensure effective communication.
Use direct messages for meaningful conversations rather than spamming multiple users.
Check message requests regularly to avoid missing potential connections.
Engage in conversations actively to build strong professional relationships.
